This month, the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) celebrated and honored the third Annual Early Childhood Teacher and Leader of the Year at the 18th Annual Cecil J. Picard Educator Excellence Awards Gala. We congratulate Rockeisha Walker for being recognized as Louisiana’s Early Childhood Leader of the Year and Nicole Williams Ross for being recognized as Louisiana’s Early Childhood Teacher of the Year. Both women continue to strive for excellence for our youngest learners.
Also, In partnership with the Ready Louisiana Coalition and the St. Tammany Corporation, the Louisiana Policy Institute for Children will host a webinar, Securing Sustainable Investment for Children through Public-Private Partnerships, on funding partnerships for increasing access to child care. Public-private partnerships allow employers and communities to join together to address child care challenges and attract and retain talent.
The webinar will be on August 6th at 12pm CST, and will highlight a shared funding model utilized in other states, where child care costs are shared between working parent(s), the parent’s employer, and the state. Please register for the webinar here if you are interested!
Thank you for advocating on behalf of young children and families in Louisiana!
