Happy New Year from the Louisiana Policy Institute for Children!
Last month, LPIC Executive Director, Dr. Libbie Sonnier, was recognized as one of the Biz New Orleans' 2023 Executives of the Year. Through the leadership of Sonnier and the Policy Institute, 2023 saw a historic new investment in early childhood care and education in Louisiana.
We are also thrilled to share that on Thursday, February 1st, we will kick off our third annual Louisiana Early Ed Month sponsored by our title sponsor Entergy. Early Ed Month provides us with an opportunity to reach out to elected officials, business leaders, child care providers and teachers, as well as families on the importance of early care and education to our communities, state, and our economy. We are hosting several events throughout February throughout the state for advocates, parents and families, child care providers, elected officials and business leaders. These events will highlight and showcase the condition of early care and education in our state.
Highlights include our keynote speaker, Dr. Cynthia Osborne; the Parent Advocacy Training co-hosted with the Save the Children Action Network, the press conference for the release of our 2023 Parent Poll results, and a social media day of action. Find the full schedule of events here.
We want to give a special thanks to our other 2024 Early Ed Month sponsors: Agenda for Children, Baptist Community Ministries, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, Cartel Strategies, Clara's Little Lambs, Committee of 100 for Economic Development, For Providers by Providers, Gambel Communications, Geaux Far Louisiana, Gulf Coast Bank & Trust Company, Jones Walker LLP, Mele Printing, New Orleans Campaign for Grade-level Reading, ResourceFull Consulting, Save the Children Action Network, United Way of Southeast Louisiana, Urban League of Louisiana, and Young Scholar's Academy.
We hope you can join us Thursday as we head into Early Ed Month!
